Jumpstart’s launching the startup version of the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge, bringing together 1000 startup leaders and employees from within the Jumpstart ecosystem. The flagship event is set to take place on August 6th, 2024.

[LONDON, 2 AUGUST 2024] – Jumpstart, the graduate/ early-mid career matching programme linking young talent to high-growth startups, is launching the Big Startup 5K, the first large-scale startup-focussed event of its kind in the UK. The event will be held on Tuesday 6th August in Battersea Park. Inspired by the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge, Jumpstart wanted to create an event that unites the UK startup ecosystem and brings together startup teams from across the UK. Launched just 6 weeks ago, the event sold out at an unprecedented rate (with 1000 tickets sold in just over 3 weeks), with teams from some of the UK’s most exciting startups and leading VCs attending, including Entrepreneur First, Balderton, Zinc VC, Seedcamp, Autogen AI, Lendable, Sifted, and Elder.

The event is sponsored by Novabook, Universal Partners, YuLife and Focal and is aligned to Jumpstart’s mission of supporting the startup ecosystem.

Discussing the inspiration behind the event, Matthew Sarre, co-founder of Jumpstart commented, “The JP Morgan Corporate Challenge has been trudging along for years… but there is no equivalent for startups. So, on a whim, we threw the idea around of creating one. We weren’t 100% sure there would be demand for it – but then it snowballed and is now this big thing with over 1000 runners coming. In fact, I think that makes it the largest startup run in the entire world. This event marks an incredibly exciting starting point for creating a larger startup network and community. ”

“Our mission has always been about building out an exceptional network of talented people in the startup world – so it’s pretty cool to see that network physically appear in one place. To be honest, we’ve been completely taken aback by how much traction and engagement the Jumpstart 5K has received, both from our Jumpstart network and beyond. So next year, we’ll be back – bigger and better- watch this space,” remarks Matthew.

Tickets for the Big Startup 5K sold out rapidly, but Jumpstart will be growing their community and hosting many more startup events over the coming months. You can find out more about Jumpstart here: https://www.jumpstart-uk.com/

ABOUT JUMPSTART:

Jumpstart was founded by Matthew Sarre and Kabir Bali who, after spending their early careers in consulting roles, realised that startups can be the perfect place for young people to grow their careers. However, finding a startup role isn’t easy. To solve this, Jumpstart finds the top 1% of talent, connects them with the UK’s most exciting startups and supports people throughout their careers via the Jumpstart community. Whilst traditionally, Jumpstart has focused on making startups more accessible for young people, the launch of this annual event speaks to their ambition of extending this accessibility further, whether that be connecting talent to startups, or founders to VCs.
